Mar 30: Dos Idiomas, Una Comunidad/Two Languages, One Community: Film & Panel

Join the BU’s School of Education and the BU Alumni Association for a screening of the film, “Dos Idiomas Una Comunidad” presented by Linda Nathan and by Steve Blossom, an alumnus of BU's College of Arts & Sciences (CAS '73). This film explores the racial and political challenges of bilingual education in the United States, and the role that Margarita Muñiz (CAS ‘72) played within the dual bilingual language program in the city of Boston and the state of Massachusetts. The film begins by shedding light on the fight for better bilingual education programs during the Boston Public Schools’ desegregation case of the 1970’s and introduces Margarita as an advocate for the children who depended on it to succeed.
