Community News

Language Opportunity Coalition
The Language Opportunity Coalition was founded in the summer of 2014 by MATSOL and Massachusetts Association for Bilingual Education (MABE), along with other education and community groups in Massachusetts.  The goals of the Coalition are to 1) increase language learning opportunities for learning English, developing native/heritage language, or learning foreign language; and 2) ensure that all learners have equal access to a high quality education and professional opportunities.  MATSOL joins the Coalition in supporting two pieces of legislation introduced in 2015:

  • “An Act to Establish a State Seal of Biliteracy”
  • “An Act relative to Language Opportunity for Our Kids (LOOK)”

The Language Opportunity Coalition is growing and welcomes new organizational members that support its mission.  Find out more about MATSOL Advocacy and the Language Opportunity Coalition.
