Language Opportunity Coalition

Seal of Biliteracy
  • TESOL, NABE, ACTFL and NCSSFL have jointly released guidelines for a state Seal of Biliteracy. Several districts in Massachusetts are working to establish a Seal locally, ahead of the hoped-for passage of legislation that would establish one statewide. Please contact MATSOL if your district is thinking about instituting a Seal locally.

An Act relative to language opportunity for our kids (LOOK Bill)

  • A recent Boston Globe editorial endorsed the LOOK Bill, An Act relative to language opportunity for our kids (H.498), filed by Rep. Sánchez and Sen. DiDomenico. "Sánchez’s bill represents the best opportunity to offer better instruction for students learning English — and a chance at a better educational future." View editorial...

Student Immigrant Movement: SIM CAMP 2015
Every year SIM CAMP has been a place where immigrant youth across Massachusetts come together to learn about SIM's campaign. This year is unique! Aside from our amazing trainings, we will be focusing on what we need to do to pass our Education Equity Bill. This bill would allow undocumented students and DACAmented students to have equal access to in-state tuition and state aid, just as the rest of the students in Massachusetts. This is why SIM CAMP 2015 will be more important than ever! Join us for a full weekend of story sharing, community building and delicious food! SIM Camp will start Friday, April 10th at 6pm and end Sunday, April 12th at 6pm at University Of Massachusetts Boston. The registration fee of $35 will cover food, lodging, materials and a super exclusive SIM t-shirt. www.simforus.com To register click here
