MATSOL Discount for new Bilingual/English Learners with Disabilities (ELL/SPED) Certificate program
Through a partnership with Lasell College, MATSOL and MABE members can take advantage of a special discount to enroll in Lasell’s Bilingual/English Learners with Disabilities (ELL/SPED) Certificate program. 
This new online program starts January 2017. The program offers four six-week courses with either PDP's or academic credit. The discount pricing applies for the PDP option. View information and registration links.

Jan 19: Condition of Education Report Release
Join the Rennie Center for their annual review of the Condition of Education in the Commonwealth, featuring the release of our 2017 Data Report and Action Guide. The Condition of Education provides a "state of the state" on key education trends, bringing together a wide-ranging set of indicators to illuminate areas of success and areas for continued improvement across the education pipeline. This year's Action Guide looks at the concept of student-centered learning and how, as a state, we can move toward a comprehensive vision of education that makes students the unit of change. 8:00 a.m. Thursday, January 19, 2017, Omni Parker House, Rooftop Ballroom, Boston. New on the DESE webiste! Two new ESL Model Curriculum Units (ESL MCUs):

  • Grade-band 3-5, Language of Language Arts (LoLA), ELP 2-3: The Language of Newspaper Interviewing and Reporting
  • Grade-band 6-8, Language of Math (LoMA), ELP 2-3: Using Data to Advocate for Change
