Description

This online course guideeducators in the process of developing engaging Sheltered English Instruction (SEI) lessons that can connect with any content and instructional delivery mode.  This course:

  • Prepares teachers to create Sheltered content lessons that can be shifted to an in-school, online, or packet format at a moment’s notice.
  • Introduces teachers to genre-based instruction featuring one targeted language focus and including strong language objectives.  
  • Provides an opportunity to analyze and apply features of SEI instructional approaches while showcasing a variety of engaging online  and face-to-face learning approaches and tools. 
  • Invites educators to collaborate and share lessons.

Audience

Classroom teachers of all subjects in grades K-12.

Format

Online: 3 synchronous (live) online sessions plus 3 asynchronous independent work modules.

PDPs

Fulfills requirement for 15 PDPs in English learner education for recertification.
