Join us for the Private Language Schools SIG SpringTalk! Achieve writing success for student (and teacher) through practical applications of Transformative Learning Theory in the classroomRebecca P. Hawk Every teacher of academic writing knows that it is a complex process that involves more than correcting errors in grammar. In fact, how best to support both the process and product of student writing has been debated by scholars for decades. Meanwhile, those of us who are practitioners in the classroom are tasked with the exacting goal of preparing our students within a short period of time for academic and professional success in their second language. Transformative Learning Theory can help both the student and the teacher frame second language learning, particularly writing, in such a way that shifts in understanding occur that can be applied to the learning process. These shifts can facilitate less errors in structure, thus greater understandability in the final written product. Practical techniques and frames of reference for classroom success are shared in this seminar. Cost: Free to current members Registration: Register Online |
