The Advocacy SIG Steering Committee would like to invite everyon e to share in a discussion of concern centering on: Addressing the Needs of Students With Disabilities Who Are Learning English. Pres ented by our very special guest, Dr. Maria B. Sherpa, who will have MUCH to present on but is also willing to go where questions and discussion lead u s. Dr. Maria B Serpa, Professor Emerita of Educat ion & TESOL Bilingual-Special Education at Lesley University, MA, USA, where she has served in several roles including Director of the Graduate Te acher Education Programs in Moderate Disabilities (Monolingual & Biling ual) for fifteen years. Her teaching career spans from elementary to colleg e teaching and professional learning from K-12 to Higher Education. Most o f her academic research and practice has been focused on nondiscriminatory assessment (bi)Literacy/dyslexia, UDL, and culturally and linguistically re sponsive IEPs.
