ESL Co-Teaching SIG

ESL Co-Teaching SIG

The ESL Co-Teaching SIG is a collaborative network for K-12 teachers throughout the state who are interested in creating high-quality co-teaching models for ESL that reflect a balance of English language and content instruction guided by the 2020 WIDA ELD standards and MA DESE frameworks and Blueprint for English Learner Success.

The goal of the ESL Co-Teaching SIG is to review, share, and promote best practices for the organization, implementation, and sustainability of co-teaching models for ESL in order to inform the schools, districts, and state leaders.

Some of our activities include:

  • Collaboratively review up-to-date resources from experts and organizations on co-teaching and specifically co-teaching for ESL
  • Share and discuss current experiences with co-teaching within our classrooms, schools, districts - highlighting what is working and problem-solving for areas of concern
  • Consult resources from DESE and WIDA and provide feedback regarding ease of use, functionality, and accuracy
  • Draft a vision and action plan to guide ESL co-teaching practices
