MATSOL’s mission is to promote equity and excellence in the education of multilingual learners.

Vision Statement

Students, families and educators have the expertise and resources to ensure that multilingual learners succeed and thrive.

Core Values

Professionalism: We believe in sound, research-based educational practices and policies for educators and English language learners alike. We believe that educators of English language learners deserve the recognition, respect and compensation due as professionals and experts.

Educational Quality: We believe that all students have a right to high quality education that empowers them to achieve their life goals.

Multilingualism and Multiculturalism: We believe that proficiency and literacy in more than one language is an asset that should be encouraged and supported. We value the multicultural perspectives and knowledge that both educators and students bring to our schools and society.

Collaboration: We believe in collaborating with other stakeholders to achieve common goals.

Diversity: We believe that diverse identities, backgrounds, and perspectives strengthen and inform our work.


MATSOL Strategic Plan 2017

All Aboard MATSOL! 2015 Organizational Restructuring

In June 2015, the Board of Directors embarked on a Board restructuring process to fulfill Goal 1 of the Strategic Plan in the area of Organizational Strength: Develop clearly defined board and staff roles in order to work together effectively and cohesively. On September 16, 2015, the Board of Directors approved a new Board structure and committee charters. MATSOL Strategic Plan 2014

On April 9, 2014 the MATSOL Board of Directors voted unanimously to adopt the MATSOL Strategic Plan 2014, developed by the Strategic Planning Committee in 2013 to 2014. View the MATSOL Strategic Plan. alt

MATSOL By-Laws

On March 8, 2012, the MATSOL Board of Directors voted unanimously to approve amendment of the MATSOL By-Laws, updating the By-Laws adopted during MATSOL's incorporation in 2001.  The amendments reflect the growth and changes in MATSOL as an organization and make the language of the by-laws clearer and easier to understand. View MATSOL By-Laws alt
