This hands-on interactive course provides specialty area teachers with a deeper understanding of how to identify, analyze and develop academic language for ELLs using WIDA© and other tools. Course participants will learn to apply language development strategies to their teaching context, taking into account the four language domains (listening, speaking, reading and writing) and their students’ English proficiency levels.

Working collaboratively with model texts, state model curriculum units, and their own lessons, teachers will gain expertise in the unique language features in their specialty areas, and how to increase students' content comprehension and academic language and literacy skills.
