Description

This course is designed for nurses, school librarians and other school staff who are hoping to develop more understanding of how to best instruct (as appropriate), communicate with, and serve culturally and linguistically diverse students and their families. 

In this course, learning activities will invite participants to reflect upon and adjust their practice to better understand, communicate and support Multilingual Learners and their families. This course includes a component related to self-study on a topic of their interest.

The final course product is an action plan based on self and peer observations and designed to foster better instructive practices as applicable to participant role), communication, trust and collaborative relationships with culturally and linguistically diverse students and their families. 

Audience

School nurses, librarians and other school staff and volunteers. Note: This course is not intended for classroom teachers.

Format

Online: 3 synchronous (live) online sessions plus 3 asynchronous independent work modules.

PDPs

Fulfills requirement for 15 PDPs in English learner education for recertification.
