MATSOL is seeking a consultant to fill a part-time contract position as Schoology Support Specialist.
POSITION SUMMARY: Provide course setup and management of online courses in Schoology and provide technical support to instructors and students during the 2018-19 school year.
The MATSOL Conference Committee invites currently matriculated students in teacher preparation programs to submit a proposal for a poster session at the MATSOL 2018 Conference.
Posters should focus on classroom activities, promising practices, or research related to the education of English learners. They should contain a summary of an academically sound, scholarly or creative project presented in a visually engaging format, highlighting work through charts, graphs, maps, etc., and include the main topic(s) and description of the visual display. Presenters should plan on short, informative discussions with convention attendees throughout the entire poster session.

This volunteer opportunity is open to current MATSOL members. Readers will be assigned to proposals based on their areas of expertise (K12 Elemantary or Secondary, Higher Ed or Adult Ed ESL, or Teacher Education). Members who have submitted proposals may not volunteer for the jury.

Through a partnership with Lasell College, MATSOL and MABE members can take advantage of a special discount to enroll in Lasell's Bilingual/English Learners with Disabilities (ELL/SPED) Certificate program.

We are saddened to share the news of the death of Mary-Margaret Almonte on May 12, 2015. Mary-Margaret worked in the Malden public schools, and was a long-time and active MATSOL member. In 2011, she received a Linda Schulman Innovation Grant for the project "Children Reading the World," which promoted literacy by having students take photographs of family and community and work in cooperative groups to develop literacy projects. In 2012, she was recognized for her work with ELLs by receiving the MATSOL Teacher of the Year award. She was a valued colleague and friend, and contributed to MATSOL and our field in many ways. MATSOL extends our deepest condolences to Mary-Margaret's family, friends, students, and colleagues.
Mary-Margaret founded Healing Hope, a nonprofit organization that donates pharmacy and food-store gift cards to cancer patients. In lieu of flowers, per her wishes, tax-deductible donations will be gratefully accepted. We had a great turnout for the MATSOL get together at TESOL 2015 in Toronto. It was great to see everyone!
The MATSOL community is saddened to learn of the death of Robert Saitz, a MATSOL founder, our first President, and an influential leader in our field. We extend our condolences to his family and colleagues.

The Linda Schulman Innovation Awards program supports projects that promote English language learning and embody the spirit of creativity, sensitivity and community. Grants of $500 to $1,000 will fund one or more pedagogical projects to benefit English Language Learners by improving their language skills or increasing their understanding of American culture.
